Janus Henderson Expands Securitised Offering with Global Investment Grade CLO UCITS launch
Janus Henderson Investors today announced the launch of the Janus Henderson Global IG CLO Active Core UCITS fund, the latest addition to the firm’s securitised franchise.
The fund is managed by John Kerschner, Global Head of Securitised Products, alongside Denis Struc, Ian Bettney and Jessica Shill, portfolio managers on the Securitised team. Based across Europe and the US, the team has a successful, long-standing track record in CLO investing, managing $34.6 billion1 in CLO assets globally. They leverage the expertise of the firm’s securitised and loans specialists.
The Janus Henderson Global IG CLO Active Core offers floating rate exposure to investment-grade CLOs rated AAA to BBB-, primarily targeting BBB-rated securities for enhanced income potential. It aims to deliver long-term returns through income and capital growth and can invest between European and US CLOs depending on relative value.
The fund will provide access to the sizable and growing investment-grade CLO market, with approximately $545 billion of US and European CLOs meeting EU regulatory requirements2.
“Global investment-grade CLOs offer a compelling combination of income, credit quality, and diversification,” said John Kerschner, Global Head of Securitized Products at Janus Henderson, “They typically provide higher yields than similarly rated fixed income instruments and have historically demonstrated strong resilience, with no defaults recorded for US or European BBB tranches issued since 20103. Over the past decade, BBB CLOs have delivered stronger performance than high-yield bonds and loans, supported by lower idiosyncratic risk.
As a global leader in CLOs, we believe our rigorous due diligence and portfolio construction process can provide competitive risk-adjusted returns”.
“We are thrilled to expand the range of CLO UCITS products available to investors,” said Ignacio De La Maza, Head of EMEA & LatAm Client Group at Janus Henderson. “The portfolio managers on the fund bring more than 20 years of experience in CLO investing and our proprietary tools and systems provide a degree of visibility into CLO collateral and relative value that market data vendors cannot match. We believe investment-grade CLOs with their floating-rate structure, low volatility, and low correlation to traditional markets, represent an attractive option for clients seeking diversification.”
Janus Henderson has significant experience in securitised investing globally, with a specialised team of ten portfolio managers and eleven dedicated securitised analysts. Together, they manage assets totalling over $65 billion4, with CLOs representing more than half of the firm’s securitised assets.
